Good Grub in the OC - Kogi BBQ Food Truck

Those of you who live in major metropolitan areas will think it laughable that today was the first time that I have eaten from a food truck.  But for those of us who don't live in major metropolitan areas, food trucks are something we see while watching food network shows like "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" with Guy Fieri, not driving around in the 'burbs.  Luckily for us we happened to run into a Kogi BBQ's truck (korean mexican fusion) while running errands in Huntington Beach. Our curiosity got the better of us when we spotted the long line and so we stopped to see what all the fuss was about.

Part of the fun of the food truck was watching the diverse and eclectic mix of people in line, especially as we had a pretty long wait (around twenty minutes) before we even ordered. Right in front of us were the typical "twenty somethings" who apparently follow the trucks on Twitter and make it their "mission" on weekends to try to eat at one of the trucks roaming the OC.  Behind me was an older man who turned to his daughter and asked if she was sure the food was going to be okay, because he had always referred to these kind of food trucks as a "roach coaches." Not exactly what I wanted to hear.

 Kogi's menu is straightforward. I opted for the three tacos for five dollars (that price includes a drink), and sampled the three different types, pulled pork, spicy beef and chicken.  I have to say it was about a fifteen minute wait before I actually got my food, but well worth it once I took the first bite.  The tacos, especially the spicy beef, were fresh and delicious, filled with scallions and Korean cabbage in a cilantro-lime sauce.  The meat was tender and juicy and cooked perfectly. The prices were definitely reasonable for the amount of food you get and I hear, according to those in line, that the sliders and the burritos are "to die for".
